Care & Longevity
Henna aftercare for a deep, lasting colour
To achieve a rich, dark mahogany stain that lasts through all your wedding celebrations, follow these essential henna aftercare practices:
Keep paste on longer
Allow the dry henna paste to stay on your skin for at least 6 to 8 hours (or overnight if comfortable) for maximum dye penetration into skin layers.
Apply lemon-sugar syrup
Gently dab a warm mixture of lemon juice and sugar with a cotton ball once the henna is dry to keep it moist and sticking firmly to your skin.
Keep hands warm
Henna darkens with body warmth. Avoid air conditioning drafts, and consider gentle clove steam (laung dhuni) over a pan to deepen the stain.
Avoid water initially
Do not wash off the dry paste with water. Instead, scrape it off gently with a butter knife or coconut oil, and keep hands water-free for 12 to 24 hours.
Moisturize naturally
Apply mustard oil, eucalyptus oil, or natural coconut balm over the freshly peeled design. Natural oils create a barrier that locks in the oxidization process.
Avoid soap & chlorine
Harsh soaps, detergents, hand sanitizers, and chlorinated pools accelerate henna fading. Use mild cleansers during the first 48 hours.
